Manchester holds a sublime place in music history. Buzzcocks, The Fall, Joy Division, New Order, The Smiths, Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses, Electronic, Oasis. These bands shaped the lives of successive generations of teenagers and changed the course of popular culture for the best part of four decades. Manchester: Looking for the Light through the Pouring Rain is a portrait of these individuals, the city and their times, by legendary Manchester-born photographer Kevin Cummins.
To celebrate its publication and an accompanying exhibition at Central Saint Martins, Kevin Cummins, Paul Morley and guests explored Manchesters unique place in the history of modern music.
The talk took place on Tuesday 1st December 2009 in the Cochrane Theatre
