Riding the nice, modern elevators at the Jefferson Building in Austin, Texas.

Technical specs:
General-Dover/Inground Hydraulic.
Performance-2500 Lbs/25 HP.
Distance-50 feet/5 floors & 150 FPM.
Year-Installed/1972, Modernized/1997.

  • Yes, this is the Impulse car station with straight panel, which I actually like better than the inclined one, which is seen a lot.

  • Here's how I determine the specs:

    Name & capacity-Located on car station.

    Type-Look through doors & hear motor noise.

    Speed-Divide 60 seconds by the travel time, and then multiply travel distance.

    Distance-Floor heights/sections added up.

    Motor size-Divide capacity by 100 for hydraulic, tractions are in 5 HP increments.

    Year-Travis County Appraisal District, or building information sign by main entrance.

  • You're welcome, since there aren't a lot of Dover elevators with an arrow on the floor indicator.

  • Maybe they based the light off the Vandal Resistant button, but that's interesting to see a Traditional button with vandal resistant light.

  • Level G is the Garage Level for the underground parking garage.

  • L stands for Lobby.
