EDIT: As of 03/25/09 Nintendos new firmware update has fixed this issue. The new SD Menu solves this issue but I will leave this video up for historical purposes :D

Me demonstrating just how impractical Nintendos offical methods are to deal with Wii's un-upgradable internal memory.

Once you download enough VC and WiiWare titles to the point where your Wii is full, this is what Nintendo thinks is a viable solution to the problem.

  • Why would you ever want to redownload it? If you can't afford a cheap SD card (2gb for like $20-$30), then you sure as hell aren't going to be worried about buying too many Wii games. Ten bucks+ for most of the WiiWare. Yes, they should have put more memory and I'm willing to bet they will, but what the hell do you want from them? To come to your house and install a hard drive in your Wii? Get a life.

  • I want them to come up with a storage solution. I don't need them to hold my hand, not sure where you got that idea from. Just release something that lets me hold more than 6 WiiWare games at a time please, even if its an overpriced accessory.

Also, I've got a life but thank you for your nice commentary.

  • This is only a problem if you're impatient, each action performed in this video took less then 5 minutes, plus you had 870 blocks open with ALL THOSE GAMES, thats plenty space, you're complaining about problems that don't even effect you.

  • A major part of the appeal of the Virtual Console is the convenience it offers. Turn on the Wii, Click, Play.

Imagine if you had to click 20+ buttons and wait 4 minutes every time you wanted to type a Youtube comment. Think it would deter you from posting a lot?

Furthermore I don't need to be out of blocks to see that this is a problem. Funny you should mention that though, because with the launch of WiiWare I am down to 60 blocks. That's AFTER I deleted some channels I wanted to keep.

  • @games2007 I wish it works the same as if it was internal in terms of Saved Data. I have 500GB holding 180 games and I still got 56GB of space, and it works as lovely as if it was internal. :) The only issue is that they all have saved data and I don't have space for Wiiware Games :( This whole putting wiiware games and Saved data into an SD card Sucks hard. It's not as smooth as you would think and it requires much patience. It would be tight if save data can be used straight from the SD card.

  • @METALMAN4Wii You're absolutely Right on this. This is the solid truth. Thats why I hacked my Wii since my opinion nevered mattered to them. If I can't get Anwers from nintendo then I'll get then elsewhere like here on youtube. Something you don't want your costumers to do on things like this.

  • Were not aloud to ever Question Nintendo got it......!

  • did you know u can buy an external hard drive ???? its not legit but its perfect

  • You know whats wierd? When I download games to the sd card menu even though they appear in the sd card menu when I look In my sd card memory I dont see it BUT it is in the wii internal memory. Also I cant transfer wii virtual console games to my sd card. I am not sure about wii ware or channels. Only wii disc games will transfer to my sd card. Why?
