I absolutely love the way people build these machines out of simple parts! Good work!
But it will not work. I don't say that none of these machines will ever work. I think that there have to be more things to take into consideration. The main problem is the ratio between the weight of the wheel and the weights AND the far too little weight shift. I have some ideas but I won't tell you. [grin]

"acrost" ?
"You are probably wondering why it doesn't work" .... ? Not really... You lost me at "acrost".

everyone knows these won't work but they are interesting to watch

Are you fully American? I can here some British in there...

This wheel will never work, subsystems already explained why and I wont waste my fingers on it. You will never generate energy from NOTHING, stop this illusion and stop illuding people please. The same weights that are going down must go up and there is a minimal attriction that sucks the energy, so it will stop after a few seconds. STOP THOSE FREE ENERGY VIDEOS< FREE ENERGY OES NOT EXIST, THIS IS A LAW OF THE UNIVERSE!

If it was me I'd build a working machine before putting "Preston Shroud" all over it. Putting "Preston Shroud" on a non-working machine just says "Preston Shroud, loser".

There's already gravity based power plant. They are called hydro-electric dams. By the way, the problem is not in the missing weights.
This can never work. There is a fundamental flaw.
Offsetting the weights from the rotation axis isn't where the problem is.
The problem is ANY weight moving along a closed loop of any shape in a gravitational field will do ZERO WORK best case and NEGATIVE WORK if friction is involved.
There is no getting around this flaw. It is impossible now or a billion years from now.
Zero work means zero energy gain. So it cannot be a "source of free energy".

Here is the best explanation I can give.
A roller coaster is a well understood example of a gravity driven device. The energy gain in the cart from the first hill can be enormous but there can be no track shape that will allow all that kinetic energy to push the cart up to the top of the last hill and start over again. There will never be a roller coaster that breaks this law and there will never be a gravity motor for the same reason.
