Well because of the recent disaster in Japan I doubt the Shamisen tournaments will be happening this year (2011) but we`ll see. I haven`t heard either way but am planning to skip this year regardless (to work on other things etc.) I am glad to find this vid is still posted. There are some great memories here. Much appreciated!

Hope the Tsugaru Shamisen world survives 2011`s recent events and really hope all my fellow Shamisen players are safe and well!

@shamikami You're welcome and it's good to know that you were out of harms way and well, how bad was it in Aomori, I didn't see much really about how bad the disaster was in northern Japan.

And I also hope the Tsugaru Shamisen players are well, they all made this world a better place with their inspiring and beautiful melodies, just as you do as well.

I see he won runner up at this competition, I wonder who is beating him out...

@GrandTeutonica Thank You. Aomori`s damage wasn`t nearly as bad as other places. Mostly loss of electricity etc. anyway thanks again.

Kevin won 2nd place out of all of Japan`s top Shamisen players 2 years in a row! And I have read this years tournament result shows that he got the 3rd place (2009). whatever you think of his playing he is the most visable foreigner in the Tsugaru Shamisen scene .

I believe Kevin is scheduled to appear in this years` 2008 national tournament for tsugaru shamisen. They have them every year in Japan during the time of cherry blossoms. good luck Kev!
