All too often in emergency situations the legitimate concerns of people with temporary or permanent disabilities are overlooked or swept aside. In areas ranging from the accessibility of emergency information to the evacuation plans for high-rise buildings, great urgency surrounds the need for responding to these peoples concerns in all planning, preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities. For more information on emergency preparedness for person with temporary or permanent disabilities, read the National Council on Disabilitys 2005 report, Saving Lives: Including People with Disabilities in Emergency Planning, available at http://www.ncd.gov/newsroom/publications/2005/pdf/saving_lives.pdf . This is clipped from the 1987 video, Everybody Needs a Buddy Sometime, from the Department of Defense Defense Logistics Agency. The entire video has been digitized by the nonprofit Public.Resource.Org (http://public.resource.org/index.html ) in a cooperative agreement with the National Technical Information (http://public.resource.org/ntis.gov/index.html ) and is available at the Internet Archive at www.archive.com .
