RC Plane: Homemade Design of my Scratch Built Bomber

I designed this plane one day, and decided to build it! I purchased materials from www.giantcod.co.uk and from www.rcskyflyer.com . BUT the foam is absolute crap. Just for the wing I had to add two, three foot long carbon fiber rods just to barely support it. Hopefully I'll have this thing up and running ASAP! Enjoy!

Oh another thing is, the elevator and rudder surface area needs to be 33% of the size of the wing. So say the wing was 90 cm square. The tail and rudder needs to be 30 cm sq on both surface . Hope i help ;p

@p3x197 I don't plan on adding an airfoil to my homemade wing. It's just to much trouble. I have doubts that it won't work of course, but if it doesn't, I plan to use my old Corsair wing. It already has an airfoil, and it's super sturdy. Also my elevator does seem a bit small. I might add some more surface area on the actual wing, not the part that moves up. The rudder I enlarged a good amount, so basically I'm playing the bare minimum odds, and maybe. JUST maybe something will go right haha.

Oh and i like the little side pieces on the wing. Are you making your elevator bigger? It really needs to be. Mine on the cargo was too small and it made it have weird pitch controll. U pulled up a bit but it pitched crazy amounts up. When i added more area on the elevator it became normal

Looking good! You really need the tail to be about 4 times as big. Being rudder only you need alot of dihedral like supercub which it dont. And the tudder surfacr wont be big enought to move it. I would just take the carbon off and add ailerons. And make the tail bigger. Then itll fly nice.

@p3x197 There is NO way I can take those carbon fiber rods off. This foam stuff bends about as easily as paper does. It's aboslutely ridiculous. If I tried taking the rods off, the wings would be hanging on the ground even before takeoff. But I'll make sure to make my rudder bigger. That makes sense haha.

Like everyone else has said, u need larger tail feathers. Your fuse looks too short. Why cut the wing for ailerons? Just cut strips of foam and tape hinge them on. You don't need plastic hinges for any of the control surfaces. Just tape hinge them all. It's good that your branching out and experimenting. Just do yourself a favor and listen to all the advice these guys give. It would be a shame to see all of your hard work turn to packing peanuts because of stubbornness and pride. Look around an

The "triangles" on the wing are called Winglets and if the rudder is the only turn control you have it needs to be buiger and have 2 parts or it will vein the oppocit directon of turn

@MrRCwiz Good Good, Trust me , Youll need an airfoil. Just put a line 1/3 of the way back and thats youre bend mark ( also the CG). Put it over the Kitchen Hob and bend over the work bench. then ull have a sweet even foil.
