In September I had a couple flights on Blackhawks. This video is a compilation of the metric ton of footage I took on those flights. Enjoy.

  • There's a certain amount of poetry in there. It's pretty amazing how serene and peaceful flight can be, right up until the door gun is put back in place.

  • Truth!

  • Wow, Iraq's pretty flat (at least in that area). I guess there actually is some green there and not all dirt. Good to see some aerial views of Iraq. I hope that place gets it together someday and becomes a stable member of the global community.

  • Iraq is largely flat and desert except in the northern area where it becomes mountainous, and is relatively green around the rivers (the Tigris and the Euphrates). They use a lot of canals for irrigation purposes.

In my experience in dealing with Iraqis, as with many other cultures, for the most part they are a moderate sort of people (moderate Islamic, that is.. much like most Americans are moderate Christians). It's the select fanatic few who always ruin it for everyone else. :)

  • Amazing video! after 4 years of deliberating i still wanna join the air force or the army just to fly... but yea awesome vid. be safe!

  • Do plenty of research before hand... and keep in mind most Army pilots who actually do the flying are warrant officers. In order to become a warrant officer in the Army, you have to do some time as enlisted... which, from my own experience, is probably the best way to know how the Army really works, lol.

  • I actually spent 4 years there. Two deployments with the Marines, and then 2 years as an engineer. I used to fly or drive base to base all of the time, and I always did enjoy those flights. What I hated was waiting at the PAX terminals for hours and hours on end. Oh yeah, and the flights were very serene, up until the point when the pilots began performing combat maneuvers.

  • "where the streets have no name" - lol

  • cool vid

  • Hehe... you should see if they will give you a gig flying them, then...
