@ShootStyleZombie Not completely true... I believe that he tried to dissuade Ian and Barbara from leaving, and was even angry with them for even thinking of saying goodbye.
-
"They leave. Because they should, or they find someone else. And some of them -- some of them... forget me. I suppose in the end.... They break my heart."
And I realize this goes all the way back to the beginning. WHY? WHY can't somebpdy just STAY? ONCE?!
Why can't he just be happy?

too bloody true it applies to all of life

Janet Fielding totally owns this scene.
-
-My Aunt Vanessa said, when I became an air stewardess, ''if you stop enjoying it, give it up''
-Tegan,
-It's stopped being fun, Doctor.
:'(

People like to say that the Doctor was always trying to get rid of Tegan, but this is proof of just how fond they were of each other.
I loved Tegan so much. This story is a bit crap but Janet's performance here is so moving. I can never imagine Peter Davison's era without Tegan - they were a perfect complement to each other.
That scene where she looks at the TARDIS taking off always gets me.
-
Have mercy! Nobody would ever rock a miniskirt like that until Amy Pond.

First time I saw this, even at the age of about 7, I was extremely happy, I hated Tegan and didn't understand why the Doctor wanted her with him. She was so annoying.
-
@ShootStyleZombie do you think it might be because she was part of Peters original team of Adric and nyssa
I've been waiting for someone to post this, its also interesting that Tegan is the only companion that The Doctor has tried to convince to stay
