I got a new "toy" yesterday! So, while a whole bunch of people and I work to try and get this thing hooked up to a signal, here's me showing off the mechanics of the pull station.

And BTW, in case you can't tell by the clocking, the code is 4-2-1. This'll become more evident when I finally get a signal hooked up to it...

I have also discovered this pull station is NOT like the other pull stations in this series. Thus, I use the model # 4263-10 LIGHTLY because it's probably not the correct model #, but I have to use it as a point of reference, as I know no other model #s of this series...

  • whats the difference between a local fire alarm and a fire alarm

  • Usually, "local" refers to an alarm system that isn't connected to a monitoring station, so if the alarm system gets activated, the fire department will not automatically be dispatched, so one would have to call 911 to report the alarm. Old equipment usually said "local" regardless, so the term is kind of useless unless used in more modern installations.

  • would this be on most pullstations?

  • Heck no, only like ancient systems from the 70s and earlier. These pull stations are used in early "addressable" systems. The pull codes out a code, the signals sound the code, and the responders match up the code to a location and then go to investigate whether or not there's a problem.

  • Does coded pullstations require electricity to run the coding wheel? or does it just go around with one pull?

  • The coding wheel is run by the pull of the handle. But the thing is, it will only do 4 rounds, and then automatically stop, so it won't keep the alarms ringing unless it's pulled again.

  • hey my school has these and i always wonderd why the alarm stopt for like 10 seconds

  • hahaha ive always wanted to pull these things but i was good and didnt lol

  • Yeah, it does, in fact it sounds like a small generator engine!

  • Answering 1 question at a time, yes, on this pull, you'd have to keep pulling it, as one full pull only sounds 4 rounds. As for there being a version that locks down, IDK. And as for, stopping the bell, do you mean w/ this pull or the "lockable" one?
