Bjørn Lomborg cream pied by Mark Lynas

The Skeptical Environmentalist is a controversial book by Danish author Bjørn Lomborg. In oxford an environmentalist cream pied him in protest of his denial of climate change. Danish anti-environmentalist author Bjorn Lomborg today received his just desserts courtesy of a fellow writer enraged at his "dangerous and misleading" statements on crucial green issues. A pie was thrown in his face at Borders Bookshop in Oxford just after 7pm Sept 4 2001

Lomborg's heavily-promoted new book 'The Skeptical Environmentalist' claims variously that consumer waste isn't a problem, that species loss is minimal, and that it is far too expensive to do anything about global warming.

Pie-man Mark Lynas said he was unable to ignore Lomborg's comments on climate change. "I wanted to put a Baked Alaska in his smug face," said Lynas, "in solidarity with the native Indian and Eskimo people in Alaska who are reporting rising temperatures, shrinking sea ice and worsening effects on animal and bird life."

If someone did that to me Id punch them , Id consider someone throwing something in my face a assault, Id react the same way to someone spitting on me or throwing rotten tomatoes at me .

The person being attacked doesnt have a cream pie to throw back , Id say such a attack is basically bullying and cowardly if you dont expect the other person to retaliate because you know they are unarmed and you dont expect them to hit you .

In a three stooges routine normally the person cream pied does retaliate they might pinch the other persons nose or hit them with a plank, if a cream pie wasnt at hand

@MrWer1138 Seriously? I mean even if global warming were a scam, the net effect of any photosynthetic organism is to sequester CO2 not to produce it. No organisms are required for CO2 production, (just look at the composition of the venusian atmosphere). Maybe you're thinking of Oxygen?

@GLOKD Anybody arguing to the contrary can start by apologising for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Africans to malaria - particularly in Kenya - due to the dogmatic, worldwide ban of the pesticide DDT. And whilst they're on their knees - they can then apologise for the unscientific nonsense preached to the Zambian government instructing them to deny GM foods allocated for starving people on the grounds that it poses a threat to their health. You know you've lost the intellectual argument when you're forced to sink this low. Lynas has actually back tracked on many of the positions he took in his youth and now takes a pragmatic pro-nuclear, pro-gm stance. Global warming is definitely not the straight forward, black and white issue the green movement would have us believe. Unfortunately this act shows how the green movement has become correctly and widely perceived as emotional, irrational, exaggerated and ideological.
