@MrJaapKooiman It depends on what tone you want out of the drum. If you're playing rock and want a fat "slap" sound, it would be easier to do this with a riser so that the beater hits the dead spot at the centre of the drum. However, If you;re playing jazz and you want a warm sound with a long decay and high overtones you can do this by tuning the drum high and positioning the beater about halfway between the centre of the drum and the hoop. Hope this clears things up. :)

@MrJaapKooiman yeah i have seen ppl playing without lifters, it works, but at the end its not the same, the bass drum is touching the floor so is loosing resonance on the sound. The sound may vary, the proper way is using the lifter.

good sound and good drumming, the only thing that nags me is the tuning on that floor tom, it resonates really strange but you might like that sound. really nice kit though.

How deep is that kick? DW just makes 18x16 now, was that a 14 or a 16?
