Learning Choreography

I found when I was first learning choreography, I found it difficult to excute some moves. Then it dawned on me that I had my weight on the wrong foot! That one small mistake would ruin the whole move. So I sat down and thought about how I learn choreography and came up with this video.

but a tip that helped me was to flow with the class as well as the teacher especially when changing direction and turns ;)

Anyway so I start to catch the first block of 8 usually well.

Then the next 8 is ok but then I gotta piece it to the first 8 then after that with more add-ons things get ropey and lose their quality.

Then as the class picks it up and flows I get lost in moves and turns and frustration kicks in :(.

Ive always been a freestyle street dancer,

Who loves to feel the flow of the music on the fly and let my body do its own thing.

However when I go to a class its still in the same mode when the beat kicks in :)

but that is further away then somebody in a blank canvas mind mode.

Excellent tips. It's easier for me to create choreography for myself but I worry about creating it for a group when I become a teacher. I appreciate you!
