North Padre Island National Seashore, about the 50 mile post, a shrimper ran aground years ago. Nothing left but a boom last time I saw it at low tide. The big Nicaragua nearby, completely disolved over a period of about 70 years. It was a great tourist attraction before the 'Mansfield Cut'. Last trip, the entire beach was littered with huge ocean bouys.4X4 Drive for almost 70 miles on sand and shells. Watch the tides, they come in twice a day and storms can cut off your retreat.
