The shape of the truss made it possible for garage transom windows to be visible inside the garage! Get FREE tips like this each week in Tim's Newsletter. Go here:

  • those roof trusses with gusset plates are great till you have a fire and the roof collapses in only a few minutes killing the firefighters that are working in the building..

  • @resqjason2 Firefighting is a hobby of mine. Any fire academy in the past twenty years has trained these pros to NOT get on a truss roof if the fire is up in the attic. Only a fool would go up on the roof to ventilate the fire if there was a danger.

  • I've been watching for a while. I actually have no experience with construction. Working a summer job as a coolie/gofer for an HVAC crew one summer in Japan is the closest I have gotten to real-world experience. Still, I find your videos entertaining and informative. You've got a very accessible on-screen presence. Perhaps, one day I shall also attempt to build (or contract) a structure of real substance. Cool videos, nice persona, good info, and great inspiration! I can't stop watching!

  • I hadn't heard of transom windows before... Thanks for the insight!
