  • wagnertasos. I'm like mahlerite in that I too didn't know Wagner and Hitler personally but neither of them were what any rational person could call good men, however I don't believe a person is ever all good or all bad and Wagner's music is among the most beautiful and sublime ever written.

  • I've been listening to Wagner's Ring for 50 years now (out of 56 -- yes, started that young). Of all the Ring orchestral pieces, this is my favorite. (Yes, I know it wasn't directly taken from one of the operas, as, say, Forest Murmurs was.)
