Carson was NOT forced out. he stated that he didn't want to become repetitive and stale and it was the right time to go. he left on his own terms. if he'd asked for a huge pay raise to stay another five years, nbc would've given it to him immediately, no questions asked and regardless of what leno or his manager thought about it.

@SuburbanDon I can't help but wonder just how much Leno's manager had to do with it. He waited until she was dead to push the blame on her. Plus he has no manager now but he still managed to screw Conan over pretty well.

I found out what a prick Leno is when he took over the Tonight show. No respect for Carson at all. And how his manager helped force Carson out.
