  • A penny stuck in the lighter socket will blow the fuse the second it touches both sides of the circuit. It will not burn the car down nor will it continuously "blow" the alternator.

  • u should b more worried about the mechanical condition of the car than whether or not they smoked in it and used the lighter and ash tray

  • HAHA continuously blow the alternator.... cause we all know, that after you "blow" an alternator..... they magically fix themselves, but with that penny in the 12v socket.... itll just blow again. Yout have a alternator blowing continuously up to 1000 times a day. And we all know that that is very hard on the muffler bearing, dipstick fuse.... and can cause a pretty serious turn signal fluid leak.hahaha

  • @sammara60 yeah thats pretty funny eh "continuously blow the alternator"

  • Sammara60 - i had a Mitsubishi Gallant had the alternator changed out, drove a mile and a half home and by the time I pulled into my driveway, there was flames and black smoke rolling out from under the hood. The fire, melted the fuse box, and fuses together, wires. My kids were in the car, and they we very upset and scaraed and not fun to repair.
