My name is Neseret Bemient. I'm a mother of a beautiful six year old girl and a Trivani Child Guardian. I am here to tell you that dreams come true and miracles indeed do happen everyday.
I sponsored a little girl named Winny Awayo from Uganda with Trivani International. My goal now is to sponsor 1000 children in the next 6 months.
When I first heard about Trivani's mission to "provide ongoing humanitarian aid around the world" it resonated with me to my core. One of my biggest dreams is to go to Ethiopia and open a clinic. As well go to Kenya and work with UNHCR to help Refugees. I believe partnering with Trivani will be a vehicle to achieving those goals.
Trivani's mission is ongoing humanitarian aid around the world to help children. They are also the first "purpose marketing" network marketing company. They promote environmentally friendly personal and health care products. The portion of the revenue that is generated is then donated to sponsor needy children around the world. Through Trivani Foundation and its humanitarian partners, Trivani is able to leverage these funds into an incredible amount of care and supplies!
I believe there is much work to be done in the world today. In 2009 there are still millions of people who live in war and poverty. This is a shame in a world where there is more than enough to go around. I believe each of us can make a difference if we're willing to do our part. One of my favorite quotes by William James says Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.
I want to tell you a little bit more about me and why I feel so passionate about making a difference in the world. See I was born in one of the poorest, and war torn countries in the world - Ethiopia. When I was 11 years old my family and I left our homeland because of a civil war and in search of a better life.
We sought asylum in a neighboring country Kenya and subsequently became refugees. We lived in Thika refugee camp just outside of Nairobi for two years. The camp was crowded, conditions were deplorable, and food was scarce. We hoped to find sponsors to come to America or Canada - the promised lands.
Through miraculous events we did find sponsors and ended up moving to Canada in 1993. I was one of the lucky ones that escaped. I know what it is like to live in war fearing for your life. I know what it is like to have nothing and to live in a crowded camp with thousands of strangers. I know what it is like to line up for food for hours feeling the pangs of hunger and be told "there is not enough food for everyone today.". I lived through it.
No child deserves to live in those conditions yet today we have so many children dieing because of malnutrition around the world. What if you can make a difference? What if you can change one child's life? What if you can change a community? What would that mean to that individual and to you?
I can tell you that I am truly grateful for the people who cared enough to sponsor my family. Just through that action they have changed our lives forever. I can't imagine what my life would be like if I was still back in Africa. I don't want to imagine.
Today I'm so thankful to be living in a free country and to have the opportunity to make a difference. Trivani will give you all the tools and resources you will need to make a difference in the world. I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of Trivani. I am excited to be involved in a humanitarian cause that is so near and dear to my heart.
My goal is to help raise awareness of the children of the world that live in war and poverty. As someone who has experienced first hand what it feels like to live in war and poverty I feel I have a responsibility to do my part. My part is to share my story and work with Trivani to help needy children around the world.
What I wish for you is to be inspired to make a difference. You have the power to make a difference if you choose to. Ultimately we all want the same things in life - safety, security, belonging, and love. If you have that already in your life know that you are truly blesed. Now please go out and share it with the world.
