This was my first ever "pipe explosive" and my first ever homemade wick. All thought up on my own. It is vital that you test the burn rate of your wick. This is the reason I ran so damn fast, I wasn't taking any chances.
What I did, is I made 13 inches of wick purposefully, and cut one inch off, and burned it and timed it. It burnt in about a half second, so I knew I would have only six short seconds to get as far away from potential shrapnel as I could! 6 seconds felt like 6 minutes sprinting!

I drilled out the punctured end of a used co2 cartridge. Then I cut open model rocket solid booster engines, and very very carefully crushed the "fuel" and refined it to basically powder. I did this my using old metal screen, and a hammer. I filled the cartridge 5/6 full of the powder.
To make the wick, I mixed water into the remaining powder, and used about 13 inches of kite string, and soaked it in the mix, then let it air dry for a few hours.

No, as a matter of fact, I found it on this site called Totse before it went under. I've made a pipe bomb one hundred times more powerful than this since then, my own plans. hehehe

Depends. If you have a fine gun powder, as opposed to gun powder "flakes" for a lack of better terms, you just mix the powder with a tiny bit of water to make a paste, coat a long piece of string with the paste, and then I just used a clothes pin to let it hang dry for an hour or two. Just to be safe, i made it super long, to test the burn rate of a few inches to estimate how long it will burn for. Good luck! Stay safe.
