Looking at various RC forums some RC flyers have used cheaper spy cameras as fly cams. I decided to get a coupe from eBay and for the money the two on this video both have potential, but neither are as good as the Flycam One Version 2 or the Eco Flycam that is now available. Both units do not process as quick and so the film is more blurry in moving shots. Both units need better light than the Flycam to function and both units are harder to mount, dont have as many functions are are not as easy to handle as an interface on the PC. Having said that the units in this film are a lot cheaper to buy than the Flycam cams.. These units will still be handy for filming on some models. I hope to get some RC action picks when the weather picks up and its not as cold!

  • woodchuck - I'm not sure how to clean them. I've rubbed a glasses cloth over mine.

Rotagen5 - yep they do have their limitations, but at the price I suppose they are as good as they are going to get. Thanks for the messages

  • @Servoboy simply take it apart, the gumpack cam has 4 small screws on the side, once apart remove front cover and back cover, carefull on back cover sometimes the batt. is taped to it. From here you can adjust the mic, change focus, solder a new lithium batt. in. To me this is a very poor design I used a #50 bit and drilled a hole at the top of the case the lens has a ribbon long enough to reach the top then just hot glue. they are cheap but putting in a mininum class 4 HCSD card helps alot.

  • Ive been using the keychain cams as a hat cam ... one things for sure, they are really bad at getting the exposure right. usually way overexposed once you are looking at the sky (which is all the time) on a clear day.

  • @denfox08 Thanks for the reply. Yes there are various versions I've purchased on eBay. Some have been good and some very, very bad. The box 808 ones seem o.k.

Thanks for the comment. If you look at my other videos, you will see I have got quite a lot more videos with the bestter cams. Thanks
