Bishopsgate Tower - "The Pinnacle" - London

* At 288 metres, the Bishopsgate Tower will form the centrepiece of London's financial district. It will be over 100 metres taller than the City's current tallest building, Tower 42 (the former NatWest Tower), and one of the tallest skyscrapers in Europe.

* Plans for a tower on this site have been around since 2002. A previous design by Helmut Jahn was scrapped following concerns over the base and crown, and its effect on views from Fleet Street. The revised design - by architects Kohn Pederson Fox - is more sleek and elegantly proportioned, and is intended to complement the neighbouring proposals such as the Leadenhall Building.

* A planning application was submitted in June 2005. A revised planning application with a 19m height reduction was submitted and given final approval in April 2006. In November 2006, the developers secured funding for the project from Arab Investments.


Current Status:
Early construction is underway. It is confirmed that the tower will be built speculatively. Brookfield have been signed up as subcontractors for the steel and cladding, and are expected to take over the site from July 2009. Completion of the tower is scheduled for 2011.

How old is this? The Heron Tower is now finished next to Tower 42 and The Shard will be topped out at 309 metres in May 2012

This is a Arab financed investment which they fail to mention. There is nothing London or British about it. It reminds me of the Cordoba Project in New York. Cordoba, spain, is where the Muslims built a massive mosque over a church as a symbol of dominace on european soil. Now there is one going up over the heart of city, to dominate our skyline This beauty will become an eyesore for many.

I wasn't refering to building projects - that's implicit in the very fact that they commenced construction on these projects during the comedy show that was the last Labour government. I was refering to more diffuse ideas like the cultural vibe that comes and goes as a society develops and/or regresses.

@TheHEADonWHEELS I hate American's to, thats why i get angry when people say that anyhere in the US is better than the UK. Yes this country has faults but i personally think our history, music, culture, and inventions are the best in the world.

@TheHEADonWHEELS Well to be honest i have been on your channel and the only video you have is of the top 5 cities, so this is obviously a subject that you focus on and prehaps are also bias when it comes to.

I also do not think you are from the UK, i think you are an American that goes around bashing London and saying that you are from here to give some credibility to your insult's...I do not count this as an "argument" as i was not upset throughout
