The world of publishing is undergoing the similar drastic changes of journalism in the transition to the digital stream. Publishing is currently redefining itself using social media tools such as Twitter and moving from print to the internet.
Similar to the struggles of print journalism in earning revenue, publishing is now applying economic models such as subscriptions and affiliate links by means of the new digital mediums available. The Publishers Marketplace is a subscription website featuring resources for publishers searching for interactivity and media on the internet, but they also use Twitter to promote news feeds in regards to the progression of publishing.
While publishing is utilizing the up and coming multimedia resources to broaden its horizons beyond the printed word, such as the Amazon Kindle and the Apple iPad, it is still the optimistic belief of Andrew Postman that there will always be an appetite for quality[and] an appeal for women going through glossy magazines.
