  • The curves are way too sharp and the grades seem to in excess of 5%! Notch 8, anyone?

  • @thepyroemperor The maximum grade is about 6.5% which is very steep but was not uncommon in early California Railroading.

  • Definitely a toy trainer gone totally amok! The train speed is horribly wrong-that train is probably going 200+ miles per hour...... a steam locomotive with an inter-modal, c'mon that is total crap! Clearly you've never seen a real train in operation! Please disassemble this as soon as possible and sell the whole thing on Craig's list. Somewhere the gods of model railroading are turning over in their graves. Oh By the way you are a total tool!

  • @thepyroemperor ...however, your comment about me being a total tool may be quite accurate...just ask my kids!

  • Wow! Awesome layout. What are your curve radii?

  • @JeanetteHynson The mainline curves are O72 with some O54...spurs have O31...are curves are significantly banked!

  • You are a total geek! Good luck with that South Spur, I'm a little worried about the grade there. Go by some lichen and get down to business. I need to see some tunneling work done here and wouldn't mind seeing a little accident scene with some bloddy carnage to really draw the kiddies in. Maybe near ther mini Morton-Thiokal plant down from the little Golden Spike scene you're probably setting up.... So cliche' John... so very cliche'. I'm running out of characters here, so I must move on.

  • @thetrainman78 Why do you say you will not operate at these speeds if you did? and why do you have to be more accurate in the future? There is no reason to base your layout on the fact that you live in an house in Oakland, I live in NewMarket, Canada and this city does not affect my layout at all, you have no logic! I very much dislike your entire project and the fact that you made a video when you are no where near done! All you did was lay out the track! A four yearold can do that in an hour!

  • @thepyroemperor ...Settle down there big fella, the train speed is full throttle in this video to test the extreme limit of the track work...I will not operate at these speeds. I will purchase a Dash-9 or SDMAC70 and create accurate consists in the future- don't worry. This layout is part of the renovation of a historic home in Oakland Ca- therefore we are using classic Lionel track- all curves are fully banked 072 and 054 (mainlline) and 031 only on the spurs.
