Guiding Star Creations attended an earthen floor training put on by Sukita with Claylin Floors. The ease and beauty of working with non-toxic materials created many smiles during the workshop. Earthen floors are such a flexible material that can be applied on grade for new buildings, on a cement slab, or on a sub-floor. Being able to install radiant heating coils and utilize passive solar heating make earthen floors an great choice for non-toxic and energy efficient living. Earthen floors are up to 90% less energy intensive than standard concrete floors. There are also many health benefits of having an earthen floor and being in direct contact with the earth through your feet. Many thanks to Sukita, the other workshop participants, and the workshop hosts. For more information on Claylin, earthen floor training, or to contact Sukita visit www.sukita.com

@shambhala108 I'm by no means an expert so take my reply with a grain of salt, but everything I've read regarding earthen floors says they are coated with linseed oil and sometimes with beeswax mixed in. I've also heard that some people will either 1) apply the linseed oil while its pretty warm or 2) a little bit a thinner is mixed into the linseed oil so that it penetrates the floor further. If someone knows any better, by all means please correct me, I'd love to learn how to do this too!

I love this well done, I would really like to know what the floor was oiled with and the wax used?
Was it just the Land Ark wood finish or were there more steps?
Thanks for any help.
Bless
