When Windows XP starts, you have many services that are started and consume CPU and system memory. Not all of these services are needed and quite a few can be disabled. This tutorial shows you have to improve performance by removing easily the unneeded ones.

  • goodafternoon.i compressed my drive c and d accidentally. and now im having a hard time how to get it back to normal. i have only 256MB. and everytime i start up the computer it is asking about the Blue Screen about NFTS to let it run which i did and when i start up again it is still the same. i hope you can help me so soon because it is going to be a month like this and ive been looking for a job thru online which is bugging me, my pc. thanks.

  • @b072879 Hi you tried right click on the C: drive go to Propertythen unckch the box Compress the data to save space?

  • If I remove my 3rd party Firewall and Antivirus from msconfig..startup will they still function normally?

  • I actually had a game that thought it was so important and it booted on startup.

  • @kevinchristopher3000 may be 2 lated to tell u==look for services pack duplicated updates(deleted it) and Start<RUN <services.msc <OK manuals and stop the thing in MSconfig that u did before

  • ok im not sure what i did wrong but my xp wont save my files now like microsoft word or any setting. this occured when i started xp up..... also its just my account the other two accounts on the computer are fine(p.s it also took my back ground away and moved all the things on the start up menu to the desktop and i cant get it back) help as soon as you can ASAP

  • i suggest you uncheck  everything. my computer is WAYY faster now. I usually had to wait a couple mins. before using it at startup now i can use it right away!

  • after i've done everything when i restart my pc there's a window that shows up and when i check the MS CONFIG the things that i unchecked duplicated and still runs....how can i remove them??
