Media were invited to a briefing on Tuesday, December 13 to provide an overview of a recent real-estate study.
PHAI Project Director Christine Fahey spoke briefly on the Property Value Protection (PVP) Program before Murray Visser, President of Property Valuators/Consulting Inc., an independent appraisal and consulting firm, who provided an overview of the study.
Visser spoke about elements of the study, which was a comparative analysis of the Port Hope and Cobourg real-estate markets, which is still in draft form. The briefing was held in response to a presentation to Port Hope Council made by Port Hope resident John Morand. The information is being put forward to counter misinformation regarding variances between property values between the two municipalities. The findings of the final report will be released in 2012, after they have been shared with the Municipality of Port Hope and other key stakeholders.
