This scene was filmed for my Directing for Camera class. Prior to shooting, I've never seen the movie, but I've read the screenplay written by Diablo Cody. I wanted to maintain my vision and my interpretation of the scene based off of the script alone. For me, this was one of the funniest moments in Juno.

I enjoyed making this short mainly because of the fun and professional atmosphere on set. The actors were brilliant, my DP was on the same page with me, and my boom operators were very patient. I would also like to give special thanks to my friend, Miranda Myerholtz and the rest of her roommates for letting me film in their home. Without them, this would not be possible.

Here are a few notes for myself about what I need to improve on:
- Lighting is key. Either use all natural light, or use a lot of artificial light. The scene would have looked much better without the ugly warm color.
- Sound is completely horrid. There was way too much ambiance outside, but at least I should have recorded more room tone. Room tone would have at least kept the sound consistent the whole scene.
- More blocking and less "blocks." What I mean by this is that I had all of the actors stationary the whole time. I should have had Juno and Leah not leaning against the wall the whole time. I also regret not showing more of Leah's reactions because not only are her facial expressions priceless, but she is an amazing actress as well.
- Tighter editing would have made for a more entertaining scene. I should have showed more cover (reaction) shots of each of the actors. And the continuity should have been smoother.
- Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. Part of this was not my fault. I was not able to have access to an HD camera, so I had to settle with the Canon GL2. However, this is still no excuse for the technical flaws in the scene. This is 2010, and I have to find a way to improve and innovate as much as I can, even if it means dealing with obsolete equipment.

I do not own any rights to the music used in this short film. This was simply a non-profit project for my class.
