"Check Yourself" was released as Miracle 12 in November 1961, Otis, Melvin and Eldridge along with Berry Gordy wrote the song, Eddie was not present when they recorded the song, so the high voice on the lines "the Good times", "The Bad Times" the high voice is either Eddie or Bryan Holland, it was one of the last singles on the Miracle label.

  • um no Otis said Eddie isnt on this song, and davis didnt join till almost 1964

  • Eldride Bryant was a tenor, its his voice you hear on the high note on the Temps song "Baby Baby I Need You" not sure exactly when he was with The Dramatics but he wasnt with them for too long, he died in 1975

  • from what ive been told he didnt ever sing lead on anything, but he did also have a breif stint with The Dramatics

  • how the hell should i know i wasnt around in 1961

  • well according to Otis Williams himself, not all the Temptations were around when this song was recorded, i just assumed it was Eddie, since its Brian or Eddie Holland singing the high parts

  • merde mix

  • Al sang a shared lead in "isnt she pretty' and sang may i have this dance on stage (eddie sang the studio version) he also sang next to Paul on the stage performace of i want a love I can see.

  • I'm a witness to these days and somehow I never heard this until the Tube came along. Of course the Temps undoubtedly had trouble getting airplay at this early stage, same with Miracle Records. Well, I feel it's one of their best ever, has alot of diff phases. Turns out it was on their I believe first album, but I was a 45 junkie.

  • Yep. Otis sings first, then Melvin, then Paul.

And it actually is Brian Holland singing the high parts, according to Otis' book.

  • Here is a song with Otis singing lead: You will have to type this in the search box: Otis Williams and the temptations I aint got nothing.

  • Is that Otis's voice in the beginning? Wow! He should not have hid it so much.

  • i LIKE TO CHA CHA OFF OF THIS

  • this is one kick-ass song!!! - I wonder why it wasnt included on their first Anthology album??

  • One of my all time faves along with For Your Wonderful Love. These weren't big hits, but are in fact dynamite on all levels.
