My grandpa passed away in December. The following morning they discovered that he was listening to music during. Evidently he knew his illness was finally catching him...and he was listening to Jim Reeves. Damn it if my grandfather was not brave...he had to be to take that final step...and now emphysema can't hurt him anymore.

My Dad always loved this song. He certainly didn't have Jim Reeves voice, but I remember him singing this song around the house. On November 22, 2008 he did "fly away" to be with His Lord and Savior and to be reunited with My Mom who had gone home just under four months earlier. I miss them both, but I am confident that I will one day see them again because of a man named Jesus and a place called Mt Calvary.

Tradition has it that this was Jim Reeves most favorite gospel song.It was sung during his funeral church service in August 1964. Wonderful rendition however.

I picked this song to play at my grand mothers funeral. She died of lung cancer in Augest of 2000. Everytime I hear this song it reminds me of her.

@shawneeNdNwmn I have an album with this beautiful song on it - I bought it for my mum, who has since flown away. The album is simply called 20 Gospel Favourites by Jim Reeves on the Paradiso label!....
What a beautiful voice Gentleman Jim had. You can melt away listening to him. A sad day for this world when he was killed but what a gain for Heaven. God Bless you Jim. Your music & songs have touched so many people.

Thank you for sharing. His voice was a gift to carry us along, helping us wait with hope for that time when we too will go with Him. No more separation, no more tears.
