Hanuman Jayanti : Hindu Festival 2011 Part 2
According to some almanacs the tithi of Sree Hanuman's birth (Sree Hanuman Jayanti) is Ashwin Vadya Chaturdashi while others quote it to be on Chaitra Paurnima. On this day, devotional discourses (kirtan) are held in the temple of Sree Hanuman (Maruti) before sunrise. The kirtan is concluded at sunrise when Sree Hanuman is born. Thereafter the idol of Sree Hanuman is ritualistically worshipped and a holy sacrament of sweets prepared from dry ginger (sunthwada) is distributed.
