what the fuck is wrong with all you guys?? i love mcr as much as they fan boy/girl, but i like what she did what the song. she gave it her own spin, and i respect that. gerard would be ashamed of you guys if he saw these comments.

Its really not a cover if she completely rewrote the lyrics. Its completely fine to be creative with it, but honestly I do not like it.

I Kinda agree with you, but then again I think she didn't intend for it to come off as wild as MCR's because she's not singing from the point of an angsty, rebelious teenager. She gave it a more adgusted adult sound because it was like a parent looking at a teenage mindset.

She has written pleanty of her own songs, 89 to be exact (and thats not including covers), she's a very well established artist and very creative. She desided to do a cover album where she changed songs to fit her genre and point of view. MCR wrote this from the teenager's point of view, she just changed what was nessesary to have it come from her point of view (a parent's). She's not cheap and she's no phony, the same can't be said for MCR and thier eyeliner.

A cover is where you take and artist's song and put your own spin on it. The cover artist can change the sound, genre, AND lyrics, but as long as it has enough similarities (such as the chorus) and the same title as the original song, then its a cover. Nina Simone covered the song "Its a pity", the original was 3 minutes long; by the time she was done with it it was 11 minutes long, because she put her own verses in it.

I happened to love this version. I think she did a good job with it. But, then again, I've always liked Macy Grey. Such a beautiful voice.

I'm not a huge Macy grey fan to begin with. But this song was shit. (I wish I had a different sn so I didn't sound biased). Idk if it was the change in the lyrics or how he sang it but something left me feeling really uncomfortable.
