Flix sticks and Moongel review

My very first kit is only 2 days old and I'm totally new to the acoustic drums. So are my family and neighbours. First thing we all have learned about it - the drums are LOUD.
What I've found very useful so far to keep the noise down are moongel (cut down the overtones) and flix sticks (generally reduce the volume). A pillow or two in the bass drum helps too.

Yeah, but what you can do. It's either edrums and wooden sticks or acoustic drums and plastic sticks/rods if you want to keep your eardrums or have a gig in a small room like that.

Agree, gel is not for volume control, but for sound control.

IMHO, cymbals sounds better without it, snare - some cons and pros, toms sound better with gel.

How much were the Flix Stix?

I was thinking about getting them because I play really loud but our neighbors don't like it.

Another thing to try is Bamboo or Birch Tala Wand. They look like a great idea and have a lot of positive reviews.

Instead of muffling your kit, muffle the room you're, try to hang up thick cheap cheat around the room, maybe even multiple layers, that will TREMENDOUSLY lower the volume!
