Short portion of Raga Khammaj played on sitar by Andras Kozma (Calcutta Trio).
Andras Kozma is the only European disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar. On tabla Peter Szalai.

  • Didn't the late Colin Walcott take Sitar lessons from Pt Ravi Shankar?

  • Yes, he got 4-5 lessons from Panditjee. He was rather a promoter of him and a good friend... He also received some tabla lessons from U.Alla Rakha.

  • Aki nem hallotta őket élőben, annak ne járjon a szája.

  • it's because of the quality of the recorder device. The sound is very good in the concert room right there.

  • what horror the acoustic,

  • In fact there are three people directly under Ravi Shankar in RIMPA. All of the are Hungarian. Andras Kozma , Szalai Péter, András Molnár. The Calcutta trio. Anyway. They are good in live. This video sux. Don't judge them without knowledge please. You can see them 3rd of September on Marcibányi square. Bye!

  • I'm also among those who heard them live. The music they play is very good, very deep and yes this is a prety bad concert here, perhaps another video would prove that. Those students of Ravi Shankar, mentioned on the foundation's page, are all Americans, hence the fact remains the fact... There was another European student of Ravi Shankar from Riga, Anatoliy Popov, but he probably left playing the sitar some years ago. There was another one: George Harrison...

  • He has done work but where is the raga? the rasa? the feeling? and he's certainly not the only European disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar... see Ptji's website.

This claim will not make his music sound better!

  • Just come and listen to them in live. And be so smart after that. And before talking like this about Ravi Shankar, please, do something like he did. After THAT you can write such things. It is true that this video is crap. But in live, they are really good. And yes. Someone may find Indian classical music boring. It isn't easy to listen to but it is my love forever.

  • I didnt't mean that indian music is cheap (I'm a hindoustani musician) but that THIS music is cheap. Ther's nothing in it.

  • Tresabou, when you know something about it this music is not at all boring. A little knowledge about the form goes a long way in appreciating it.

  • Very good, he takes me to another place that is good.
