Say yes (Elliott Smith remix)

This is how I proposed to 'Reese on Christmas Eve. She said yes.

The song was written by Elliot Smith. I added the beat, a bass line, strings and mixed it with the gracious permission of my boss, Tim Rochan at his studio, Wall Street Productions in Southfield. My friend Aaron Cheverait did the motion tracking for the sign at the end.

"Say yes" has been 'our song' since we heard it a year ago, so when 'Reese saw the title, it didn't tip the surprise. When she saw me standing there with a ring, she was so stunned she started backing up into the Christmas tree.

Very well done, I gotta say. This is an absolutely beautiful collection or words and notes.. Truly an amazing song if there ever was one. Certainly a powerful one, too, hell.. I got part of it tattooed on me.

The editing you did to it was amazing. Works incredibly well and I really like the flow of it. I've been looking for remixes and have been trying to do one myself, and this is all I've found so far.

That video/edit was a great thing to give to somebody.

I hadn't decided to propose until after I started editing it in November. That gave me nearly two months to refine the edit and add elements to the remix. I'm happy with it. I'm glad you are too. Hopefully the estate of Elliot Smith will feel the same way if they ever get wind of this.

i can totally imagine there being an unreleased mix of this song lying around somewhere with strings/synths by elliott, just the way you mixed it. its not far fetched at all when you find out that his other song "needle in the hay" has an unreleased mix with a trumpet in it :D

Hey man, I want you to know I really loved this as a remix. I thought it would be stupid, because remixing an acoustic song like this would sound weird or just off.
