Darrell was looking for a creative & surprising propel for his girlfriend Melinda. Melinda was returning to St. Louis after spending 2 1/2 months teaching in Haiti.
So Darrell did what any good boyfriend would do, he invited his parents to the engagement, and his future in-laws, and his future sister-in-laws and his future nephews.
To add to the event, Melinda's plane from Haiti had to detour to the Bahamas to refuel, then she left her backpack in customs, missed her original flight to St. Louis, was convinced she was on a rebooked flight to St. Louis, when she was actually going to Chicago. What Melinda didn't know was that most of her family include her 4 year old and 1 year old nephews were waiting anxiously at the airport for almost 6 hours.
In the end of a very long day for all parties it was totally worth it!
