Media misreported that all polls in Florida closed on 7 p.m. E.S.T. and they misreported that Gore won the election in Florida. That was not case. Westernmost counties in Florida who are on Central Time Zone open for additional hour at 7 p.m. local or 8 p.m. E.S.T. The counties who are on Central Time Zone are populated by Republicans who voted for Bush.
