  • Dolphins have evolved over millions of years, adapting perfectly to life in the ocean. They are intelligent, social and self-aware, exhibiting evidence of a highly developed emotional sense. Imagine the panic dolphins must experience as they are yanked from the ocean, forever separated from their world of sound, their pod members, and their ability to swim freely.

  • I agree that this is terribly wrong, however the majority of aquariums rehabilitate injured dolphins that have been rejected, abandoned, lost or caught in nets and on the verge of death. You cannot speak for the entire dolphinarium industry. I recently attended a swim with the dolphins program and all of the animals were those who would have suffered and perished without the help of these people. The japan scandal is indeed horrible, but you are only looking toward the dark side of the situation.

  • Shadow, DJ, and Kai are the dolphins names.I've been to the Texas State Aquarium, so I know their names. You should visit Seaworld San Antonio, they have Pacific White-Sided Dolphins. They also have Bottle-Nosed Dolphins

  • I agree with 100% of what you said, this unethical. However most of the dolphins in aquariums are either born in captivity or captured in nets by cruel tuna-catchers. After a care center has cured them, they are often not capable of returning to the wild because of the disadvantages there injuries provide them with. Skilled trainers rehabilitate there emotional sense by providing them with consistent habitats and care, play and love that they understand and use to mend themselves mentally.

  • I agree that it is horrible to grab and animal and throw it in a cage, but this is massively twisting the captive-dolphin situation in a grotesque hobby. Without public awareness of the species, dolphins would compete against fishers for their lives, but with public awareness they have been pulled off the endangered list. They build relationships with trainers and are supplied with an adequate environment in which their actions indicate contentness. Also, dolphins LOVE performing.

  • The dolphin hunt in Japan is supported by people from the international dolphinarium industry. The annual dolphin slaughter provides an easy way for dolphinariums to obtain young unblemished dolphins, suitable for commercial exploitation in captive dolphin shows and swim-with-dolphins programs. We have witnessed dolphin trainers assisting the dolphin hunters during the slaughter process, selecting the best-looking dolphins for themselves and letting the dolphin hunters kill and butcher the rest

  • Can you tell if your dog is happy? Yes it is quite different, but dolphins have unique personalities and show emotions in different way. At these aquariums and such, dolphins have at least 5 friends. They also except trainers, etc. as there pod and they are not just 'thrown fish.' dolphins perform behaviors, and fish is a reinforcement for positive learning. They aren't trained for people. YOU may only see the show, but behind all of it, they have developed relationships with their trainers.

  • How do you exactly know they like being in fish tank all their lives? Last I checked, you cant tell if a dolphin is sad or happy. Most Odontocetes, which Im sure you know are the group of Cetaceans that dolphins, along with other toothed whales encompass, are social animals who live in pods and roam large habitats. Throwing a dolphin in a fish tank with mabye one or two other dolphins and throwing them fish so that people can watch them isn't how they are meant o live, and thats why its wrong
