  • I don't get what the big deal is.

It's quite similar to the Bjork song, that doesn't mean it's not good in its own right.

Besides, the music is nice and all, works wonders for the song, but the lyrics in this are the real gem as far as I'm concerned.

    I always get chills at

    "Sky is filled with neon,

    the buildings stand electric

    and almost seem to glow"

This is the happiest, most relaxing song I can feel.

  • nobody seems to realise that this was composed as a tribute to Hyper Ballad... idiots.

  • @dnabstract Who cares least people are respecting it right? Doesnt make them idiots just because they dont know something about one song. Chillax.

  • Obviously Kanno is aware of the Bjork tune, because she uses the same tempo, the same key, and Ilaria Graziano who has the Bjorkest voice of anyone Kanno works with. But the song itself is a totally original use of the style. Like any great musician who writes a piece of music in a pre-existing genre, Kanno does what she always does and uses a style that exists as a vehicle for something even more original. If you pay attention, the structure of the song's even less traditional than Bjork's.

  • @jakiner It's not that one or two notes sound the same, the connection is a lot deeper and more obvious than that. Don't just dismiss it so foolishly. Both songs are amazing, in different ways. Kanno's homage/tribute (she has previously cited Bjork as an influence) emulates the tentative relaxation and gentleness of Hyperballad's calmer moments, and Hyperballad features the raw emotional chorus section, picking up the pace of the piece and breaking up the restful verses.

  • Björk's Hyperballad.

  • So what if a one or two notes sound the same? That means absolutely nothing. Yoko Kanno is an extraordinary composer period. No offense to Bjork (she's great) but there's no comparison at all.

  • i love this song it crazy its like i get goose bumps when i hear

    Sky is filled with neon,

    the buildings stand electric

    and almost seem to glow"

  • @dnabstract Could you site a source?

  • 元ネタはこれですね。

    Björk - Hyperballad

  • People that insult certain styles of music or songs shouldn't be allowed to hear any kind of song at all.
