I recall Dory Funk, Jr. writing about Andre's last tour of Japan in '92. Andre had undergone knee surgery and brought the video of it...Andre was fascinated by the operation. He loved wrestling, and loved being out before the fans. RIP.

You're right. Terry Funk also writes about it in his autobio, "Andre took out a bottle and showed it to us. There was a mass of sizable bones in it, which was the one removed from his knee in the operation." Andre always enjoyed a card game and bottles of wine on Japanese tours. He stayed at one of the five-star hotels in Tokyo and loved his native French food there with The Funk Brothers. AJPW never ran short of bottles of wine, which was kinda painkiller, for Andre anytime and anywhere.

Hulk Hogan said in an interview that when he slammed Andre at Wrestlemania 3 he was more like over 800 lbs. Hogan tore some lat muscles in the process.

That video is online, and Andre wasn't as heavy as this, but pretty damn heavy. Canek barely lifted him and hardly slammed him, while Hogan obviously slammed him (and yes I realize Andre was "helping" both of them, just saying).
