Since a lot of people requested this, I go over how to make basic fire using Sitni Sati's plugin "FumeFx." This is the very basics of how to get started using it. I do not go into a lot of detail; just skimming the surface of what the program could do.

  • After the final simulation is done, can I move or duplicate the grid so that I change the fire/explosion's location without having to sim again?

  • @DanZaidan YEP! That's the beauty of cached files. It reads from the same place. You can resize the grid (not through the FumeFX settings) just scaling and rotating it as many times as you want. The only hit you will see is when you render it. But yes, you can duplicate them without simming them again.

  • @mstarktv Nice, thanks... But do you know if you can change the timing of a simmed explosion? I've tried messing around with the output and playback settings but all I could do was to "cut" the beginning frames and not properly offset and delay the explosion. If you know what I mean...

  • @DanZaidan Yes you can. That's what the post processing is for. Look at the help files and it will explain how it works. Should be under Help>Additional Help

  • I started in school and have been using it for work ever since. Also, I try to do as much training as I can.

does saving the render as an png sequence make any difference ?

  • Awesome tutorial! Looks great!

  • mark you rock.....comeon man you can really be a youtube partner....

  • @mstarktv Thanks, but this option is not available in v1.2. That kinda sucks... I guess I'll just offset the camera keyframes. It should do it... :)

  • Hey stark i love all these basic tutorials and i hope you will start to do some more advanced tutorials in the future.
