This is a beer that has been generating major buzz the last few years, but Firestone Walker isn't easy to get in the Northeastern part of the country. Parabola, in particular, is even more rare. I had to drive all the way to New Jersey to buy this bottle for $18. That's okay, because I was on my way to Brooklyn for something else and it was on the way.

I saved this beer especially for episode 600 for obvious reasons. But what we forgot to mention in the video is that this was also a birthday treat for Jay. It was also part of a deal we made back in October that Jay would split his bottle of Founders CBS with me and I had to split my Parabola with him. Would it be worth the trade...?

Season 15, Episode

BREWERY'S DESCRIPTION & INFORMATION:
Parabola has been a major component of past anniversary blends and is one of our most aggressive offerings. This beer features bold bourbon and tobacco aromas and a rich dark chocolate, charred oak flavor. Parabola is best enjoyed in moderation and is a perfect beer to pair with those chocolate dessert favs.
An extension of Quercus Alba —the Firestone Walker Barrel aged program. Russian Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels.
12.5% ABV

  • funny thing is is it not only was your 600 you posted it on the day of my birthday....

  • @jjrudy41 yeah we forgot to mention that in the video, but I mentioned it in the description box.

  • Man, I'd love to try this brew. It sounds awesome! A red wine character sounds awesome in a big stout like that.

  • @SnobbyBeer I'm actually not a fan of the vinous quality. That's why I gave FFF Dark Lord and Stone IRS only 9's instead of 10's. I prefer the KBS style chocolate and coffee.

  • I had to go to California to get this lol. I LOVED this beer. I got mine in June and drank it 3 weeks ago.

  • similar edit other than the beggining... loved the beer. might be the best of 2011

  • This beer sounds superb, great review guys and well done on 600 beer reviews Chad, cheers

  • @arrogantbastardale how can you improve on perfection?

I don't see much to be gained by aging this. Maybe you'll lose some of the booziness but it's not like it's DFHWWS, so you might lose some of the genuine flavor too.

  • @ChadzBeerReviews I enjoy aging beers like these too. It's an experimental type of thing. Some beers age really, really well, and this is probably one of them. Just my opinion.

  • Great review guys. This is my all time favorite Imperial Stout, its soooo good. Glad you guys liked it. Cheers!
