This video begins with the classic "four move checkmate" and launches into all-out, rule-breaking chess war.

Hi, my name is Robbie ... all » Losee. I am not a serious chess player. I had to look up how to do the four-move check-mate just to make this video. It took about a month to create the entire video, and when I started I had basically no knowledge of how to use Blender (the cool 3-D program that I used to make the entire action sequence).

I used several programs to finally complete this video. Most or all of them are freeware.

The primary ones are Blender and the Gimp.

Just a little note about the moral of the story: We human beings have a tendancy to think of laws and rules as restricting (because duh! they are :-) But they are meant for a reason. Rules bring order and prevent chaos and anarchy. Life without rules is a sure path to hell, both in this life and after death. God gives us rules for our own good, just like your mom or dad would tell you not to touch a hot stove or play in the middle of the interstate highway. God is interested in our wellbeing. I think we should obey His rules.

  • Also, on the last part, did you animate all of those markers individually? that must of took forever! (For me, i did a little animation with boxes and my character chrashing into them. I let the physics part of blender take care of that. (you know, you assign a collision or softbody to the mesh and blender makes all the collisions and flingings and smashings all by it'self. (^---^ ah, blenders such an awesome program.)

  • I made this video when I had just first discovered Blender - I had only done the famous "Pawn in a Hurry" tutorial and a few others. I didn't know Edit mode from Object mode. I didn't know Materials from Textures (notice the white pieces have texture, the black ones don't - I couldn't figure out how to repeat what I did). I didn't know how to "parent" objects. I was completely lost. No physics or collision. Just Ipo keys. It is amazing to me now that it came out any good at all.

  • Interesting video, how long did it take you to make this video? ANYWAYs, i like making things on blender also. I find it very enjoying! You can check out my channel and see how i'm doing. (I haven't done much tho. no real long movies or anything like that, just little shorts). You might like it, idk.

  • Thank you!

    How long? About a month.

I am usually on dialup, but I can't wait to check out some of your videos when I get out to a broadband connection! Yeah - blender is addicting!!!

  • This is so funny!

  • Thank you!
