Desperate Endeavors highlights the chase of the American Dream by Bombay-born immigrant Ram Patel, who arrives in New York City in the 1973. Beset by financial struggles, and supporting a family, he jumps over hurdles of discrimination and prejudice and then "plugs his finger into the dike" of his frenzied life to carry on his dream of making it in America. Ram learns to live a more balanced life and turns his fortunes around to success. Based on a True Story. Adapted from the book, "Seeking Home" by Jayant Patel.

Apart from all the glitter of the NYIFF , the real story is to know Jayant Patel and his spirtual master, Gnani Purush Dadashri, popularly known as Dada Bhagwan, who is briefly shared in the movie and in the book. The Bliss of the Self is much more than the 'heaven' referred to. If the the film inspires the viewer to know more about Dadashri than it would have served the effort my very humble friend, Jayant Patel.
