  • That opening shot is 02:20 long! All that camera movement on a large crane carrying a huge Technicolor camera. It's no big deal now, of course. Cameras can fly anywhere. Back then, not so much. Berkley always asked for the impossible and he invariably got it. Several cinematographers referred to him as Mad Buzz. They also loved working with him. This is one of the great shots from that time. It is so Berkley. And it's a good song, too.

  • @MsSoundguy I wonder if the guys in the first row had to duck when the camera moved around and up to the second row?!!

  • Respond to this video... It's all about that chandelier! Start out by it, drift down from it, glide around the band and then go back up to it, then back down again to below Benny, to again show off that chandelier!

  • @MsSoundguy When you think about it it's really very Art Deco! Graceful, even Streamlined Moderne! Busyby thought in fantasy and what we see is his great mind on film!

  • Of course Carmen is singing about some city that she has no connection with at all! So what? She is just fabulous.

I also love her when she sings in Portuguese.

  • It just has a feeling of "selling out" for the American movie machine...

  • As a Paducah native, and current resident of nearby Mayberry, er, I mean Mayfield, I was delighted to see this song! I'm showing this to my Paducah friends! :)

  • @gregoryagogo Yes, I love that sax! Thanks for posting this. I just love it.

  • Just analyzed Carmen's hat, and noticed how art deco it actually is! It's architecture!
