this movie frightened me to death when I was a child... my dog got trapped out the garden in the night and I had to go and free him with visions of Gwangi jumping over the garden wall lol... oh to be young!!! it haunted me for years..

I agree, I like like all Harryhausen`s works but, I have an especial affection for his Sinbad movies! they are part of my childhood! when I was eleven I missed a test in school because " Sinbad and the eye of the tiger" was going to be shown on the same day! can you believe it?

right but think about this the guys who worked on the effects of jurrasic park based the ideas for movements especially the galamimus scene with T rex chasing them off of the valley of gwangi. but O'Brien and Harryhausen are the greatest stop motion men ever

Harryhausen considered Gwangi his finest single creation, but was so disappointed when the movie failed that he almost left show biz. Thank goodness he stayed around for 2 more Sinbad movies and Clash of the Titans!
The "cowboys vs. dinosaur" theme was dreamed up by Harryhausen's mentor Willis O'Brien and was made into a very low budget movie called "The Beast of Hollow Mountain".
