Blue Bug Competition by Milan Polak & T-Rex - David O'Toole #2

I was playing over the Blue Bug Competition backing track yesterday, and I thought to meself, 'wouldn't it be interesting to try something away from my last take' which was a soloing entry. But I better hurry cos the closing date is tomorrow right!

So one late night/early morning later, I came up with this. Its sort of like a cross between The Edge and David Gilmour, so I'm calling it 'The Dave Edgemour' entry lol. Hey at least I got the first name bit right :).

Recording wise I used a Steel Slide, a Vox Tonelab LE using an Overdrive and a Timed Delay (set at 390 ms), through a small mixer into the PC. Guitar was a customized Fender Strat using the Bridge/Middle pickup combo.

I recorded the solo using Wavelab/Cubase.

Once again thanks to Milan and T-Rex for the comp, and wishing the best of luck to all entrants, (including me :). There's some great entries in there for sure.

  • YES! I like this one even more than the 1st one...so haunting, yet so well-played (especially the first part)! Once again, you lay down some KILLER slide work!

  • muito bomm...

  • @Dzimini Thanks a lot glad you liked it. Yeh I wanted to try something different and intensive with it. I noticed that any entries I looked at so far tended to be Soloing style (including my own first entry). My 'Edge' and 'David Gilmour' influences came to the rescue :). Cheerz again, guitanorak

  • I like your solo, too! So pure, elegant and simple, but so deep and emotional with no ''look-at-my-finger-flying'' things. This is just the way it should be!
