fergie and j'lo claiming that the CIA are terrorists and liars arent comments made just to get a rise out of people... its their opinion. nancy pelosi said they are liars. should she get kicked out of congress? and, as far as i know, there is no way that fergie and j'lo, both females, would be in support of sexual abuse of women. also, there is no way that they have used the n-word seeing as how their music barely cusses and they arent even black. and whats wrong with rec drugs and verbal porn?
yes, but those "vulgar misogynistic rappers" are not addressing certain individuals when they do their music. they can say whatever they want as long as they are not going and doing it to somebody specific all the time. when they make their insults, they generalize it to all kinds of people. don imus was preferably talking about the "nappy headed hoes" playing for rutgers. its apples and oranges.
Most opinion shows appeal to emotion I suppose. MSNBC is enough to throw some righties like me into emotional overload. Rachel Maddow/Keith Holderman ... that stuff is nuts! Does the right demonize intellectuals? I don't see that. The exception may be teachers and college professors who vote 80% democrat (I would imagine). Those are the minds that are shaping the minds of the future generation - so that is a problem for conservatives who don't want people to be slaves to government.
Whether or not one disagrees with Rush, or anyone else, one cannot dismiss the man's intellect or success. So yes, I was right on the mark. However, Limbaugh does overtly appeal to peoples' emotions, so not sure the first definition would be completely accurate. The right's demonizing of intellectuals and of intellect are self-serving and disingenuous, at best, appealing to the lowest common denominators in our society.
Don't let Rush fool you, he's an intellectual. He's always thinking, trying to come up with the next day's controversy. His, and many others on the right's feigned disdain of "intellectuals" is just that, because most of them are intellectuals themselves. I personally don't think it's fair to paint with such a broad brush, especially with no real evidence to back it up, and it certainly doesn't give license to the comparison of football and gang violence.
Most players in the NFL are not mental giants. Most did "not" finish college - and many barely had grades to get to college. I have a 4-year degree - not that it means much. I have my own business and employ six people. I'm not 30% as smart as Rush - and he never went to college and hated high school. The best owners are the ones who get as much as they can for little money - like my Oakland A's - four times World Series champs in 40 years. The avg. NFL IQ is likely 100-ish.
You're stereotyping. You don't think the people who play in the NFL are intelligent? They're smarter than you and I, having made it through college. Your comment is blatantly generalizing in it's blanketing of NFL players in that manner. If you were to try to become an owner of an NFL team making these comments, you'd have a long and difficult road ahead, just like Limbaugh.

You're right JohnnyBB82. I didn't know the definition of an intellectual until I was forced to look it up after your response.
1. Of or relating to the intellect, rational rather than emotional.
2. Appealing to or engaging the intellect:
3. Having or showing intellect, especially to a high degree.
4. Given to activities or pursuits that require exercise of the intellect.
Yes - Rush is all of those. You're a very courteous debater. Thanks, and good goin'!
