As with anything, when heard in a larger context, it becomes so much more larger than life, so to speak. The same is true with art, take a small painting and enlarge it to 8 feet x 10 feet and it totally blows you away.

Terrible post modern composers justifying their terrible music with philosophy, and pretentious people defending it to appear intelligent.
