  • How many years of schooling does it take to become a librarian? ...I want to be one. Seems like a nice career.

  • @MissAesthetic If you already have a bachelor's degree, the MLS will take you anywhere from 3 semesters to 3 years to complete (depending on whether you go full or part time.) Not too long, considering it is a terminal master's.

  • Sorry to all the guys who felt they aren't represented...I did make this as a project for class and the point of the project was to explore the image of the stereotypical librarian. Since the stereotype is that of a female (and also fashion is stereotypically a female interest), I focused on girls. When I have time I might go back and add a section devoted to the male stereotypes. Thank you for all the views and comments...I wasn't expecting so many =)

  • I think that librarians are sexy, but I'm a bit prejudiced because I like intellectual women. I've married two librarians and have been married to my current librarian spouse. She was initially amazed that I thought she was more beautiful than her buxom fraternal twin sister, but I like slender, perky women with great legs. I like the fact that sexual attraction is not limited to one type.

  • I am a librarian and this is a very interesting video. We at the library dress in so many styles I can't even start to describe. Well you can't by any means judge us by our appearance but you can definetely judge us from our work. You will miss us if we are gone, which is a reality to many people, closed libraries & unemployed librarians. Bottom line, people in libraries have different styles but that won't prevent them from helping you find what u need. So go talk to your librarian! Love&peace

  • I am planning on going to grad school for my MLS soon, if there is anyone out there also going into library science feel free to message me.

  • Great video. I personally find all the stereotypes of librarians to be annoying, and I never see librarians that actually look like the stereotype.

  • Great presentation! Thanks a lot. I do get cold very easily, so I carry cardigans and jackets with me even on the hottest summer day.

  • Also...the male librarian profession kind of looks the same. Glasses. Dress button-ups. Awesome shoes. Weird sex-appeal from women.'.just sayin.'

  • Yes! I am working on my MLIS! It is funny how most of us look this way...I think most of us do it on purpose because...well..that look is really attractive. And most of us do need glasses. Being a queer woman, I look more boyish than my librarian peers..but still do rock the whole glasses and sweater theme. Not to mention my rad saddleshoe collection.

  • What an amazing research presentation! I am a new public librarian looking for how I should dress and I stumbled upon your video. Now I am not so worried at all. I just need to wear business casual, and pick the type of bus-cas that accentuates my own style. Thanks!!!
